Why I started this course

You are not alone if you feel unprepared, overwhelmed, anxious, and upset about distance learning this school-year.

When COVID started, my family's stability was challenged big-time. My preschooler and 2nd grader completed their final three months of school at home (alongside my 2-year-old), and, at first things were rocky. But within a couple of weeks, we had landed on some solid routines and expectations, and my family was thriving again.

I know so many parents who have suffered through this time, and are currently feeling hopeless about the school year ahead. I'm here to tell you: there is hope. With a fresh outlook, as well as some methods and tools in place, you too can experience success and peace in distance learning. You can create a POSITIVE experience this school year.

Here's the deal. Nobody is coming to rescue you and your kids from doing school at home. There are two options: hide in your closet, OR, as parents, we can embrace the challenge to be more active leaders in our child's education and do everything we can to support their learning and create a healthy, happy home.

My goal with this course is that you not only "get by" this school year, but that you thrive in new ways with your family, and you look back on this unusual time with a sense of pride and accomplishment.

In this course we cover:

Preparation: Creating the optimal mental and physical space for distance learning in your home.

Schedule: Realistically managing your time and priorities while facilitating distance learning.

Implementation: How to best partner with your child's teacher, and manage learning and behavior in your home.

After this course, you will be able to:

  • define your specific role in distance learning

  • set up your home and schedule so they work for both you and your kids

  • collaborate with your child’s teacher to be an effective team

  • create boundaries and routines that support behavior management

  • work toward success in distance learning

Excellent and practical tips for preparing for distance learning. Liza does a great job of identifying the steps you can easily take to not only feel more prepared but more confident in starting the journey of distance learning. She couples this with real life examples and ideas you can implement immediately. Very comprehensive! Will definitely recommend to all my mom friends 👍

Essential and grounding. This course is full of clear and calm guidance on how to prepare and implement at-home learning. I'm so glad I took this course as it was a great reminder of my job as a facilitator for my child's education, not her primary teacher. I feel excited and empowered to implement all the great ideas. Thank you for creating this essential course, Liza!

This course is so full of tips and ideas to get my teens off on the right foot with distance learning! We're starting to "prime" this weekend. Our school district has provided no support or training for parents, and THIS course is the missing link! It is the guidance parents and families NEED to prepare for school at home. Thank you, Liza!

FAQs

  • We are on a blended/hybrid school schedule. Will this course help me?

Yes! This course is for any type of distance or virtual learning setting. The tools and methods presented can be applied to any situation and household, from those schooling at home 1 day per week to 5 days per week; for 9 weeks or the entire school year.

  • School has already started. Can I still benefit from this course?

Absolutely! Setting the tone from the outset is best, but if school has already started, you can certainly shift course and implement new strategies in your home at any point in the school year.

  • I work full-time so my mother will be helping my kids with their school work. Does this still apply to me?

Definitely. All the more reason to have an organized structure and plan in place. I encourage multiple caregivers to be involved in the distance learning, allowing the primary person to take breaks and days off.

  • My husband and I work together with schooling, as our work schedules allow, should we both attend or just one?

It is encouraged for all caregivers involved in your child's distance learning experience to attend the course, but it is not required.

Jump on this chance!

You have the power to use distance learning as an opportunity for your family to connect and grow.
