Hello!
Thanks for stopping by! My name is Liza Wittenberg (pronounced like "Lisa"). I'm the proud mama of three sweet kiddos, and wife to my best friend, Eric.
I love kids, and I always have. As the third of five children growing up with two working parents, I spent much of my childhood looking after my younger brother and sister. And I haven't stopped working with children of all ages ever since.
I babysat and nannied my way through high school and college. In fact, my first job, at age 15, was as a nanny for three kids, ages 4, 2, and 6 months. And I loved it! After getting my undergrad degree from Georgetown University, I joined the ranks of Teach for America and taught elementary school in the South Bronx of New York City where I also completed my Masters in Teaching from Pace University. I left the classroom for some time to manage a global citizenship program at the United Nations Association training teachers across the country, only to return to the classroom at the American School of Valencia in Spain because I missed working with kids. Then my husband and I took a big leap, and we helped to start and then ran the Berkshire Soccer Academy for Girls (BSA) in Massachusetts for almost ten years.
While at BSA, I became a mother. And even with my education and experience working with kids, I learned that being a parent is . . . hard (news flash). Particularly, after I had my second child, I really started to feel the uncertainty and overwhelm. I was frustrated, yelling a lot, and feeling devastated because parenthood was not living up to my expectations. My home was not the happy place I always dreamed it would be.
After months of struggle, I found myself searching for new philosophies and skills to apply to my parenting toolbox; and I found them in countless books and classes. After a lot of practice, I found my footing again and slowly began developing my parenting muscle; and I haven't looked back since. Everyday I strive to know more and do better with my home and my kids. And guess what?! Now motherhood looks a lot like I dreamed it would.
Yes, I still make mistakes and have rough days, but in general, I feel confident in the way Eric and I are raising our kids. It feels purposeful, not accidental; and I am so excited to share these methods and skills with you through my courses.
I have designed each course to pass along knowledge and tangible tools (not just philosophies) gained from expert sources, as well as my experience working with kids in various environments. And I hope to encourage, inspire and motivate you to find your footing and create a happy home, giving your kids the childhood they deserve.
